NOTICE OF APPROVAL OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION (“EA”) FOR THE IMERYS REFRACTORY MINERALS SOUTH AFRICA (PTY) LTD: ANNESLEY ANDALUSITE MINE APPLICATION FOR THE RELOCATION OF THE PORTION OF D4134 ROAD AND 22 KV POWERLINE ACROSS ANNESLEY ANDALUSITE MINE (LP30/5/1/2/3/2/1(073)EM)

Shangoni Management Services (Pty) Ltd (“Shangoni”) was appointed as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (“EAP”) in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998), as amended, with specific reference to Regulation 12 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (GN R982 dated 2014), as amended, to undertake the Environmental Authorisation Application for the proposed relocation of a portion of D4134 Road and 22 kV Powerline across the Imerys Refractory Minerals South Africa Annesley Andalusite Mine (“AAM”).

Notice is hereby given to registered Interested and Affected Parties (“I&Aps”) that the Environmental Authorisation was granted for the aforesaid project by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (“DMRE”) on 4 August 2022.

Your attention is drawn to the fact that an appeal may be lodged against the decision in terms of the National Appeal Regulations, 2014 as published in GNR 993 in Government Gazette 38303 of 8 December 2014. Should you wish to appeal any aspect of the decision, you must submit an appeal in writing to the Minister of Environmental Affairs and a copy of such appeal to the DMRE within 20 days from the date of this notification, and such appeal must be lodged as prescribed in Chapter 2 of the National Appeal Regulations of 2014, by means of the methods as prescribed below:
