About Shangoni

Why Do We Exist?

Our mission is to:

cultivate a working environment and build relationships with all stakeholders, with respect towards our Creator and people;

be the preferential business partner to our clients in sub-Saharan Africa;

create a positive and psychologically safe work environment to foster loyal employees;

provide innovative products and services that identify, quantify, and mitigate environmental, safety, health, and compliance risks; and

affect the community and society positively.

Shangoni Values

How Do We Behave? (Values)

To ensure that we influence decisions that affect the environment, Shangonians (our people) are defined as good Stewards, Problem-Solvers, and Team Players.

We achieve these values through:

self-leadership;

being healthy individuals (body, mind, soul);

valuing integrity and respect;

using and displaying expertise (talent + passion + experience) to influence;

acting decisively and with authority;

innovating and being thorough in finding appropriate solutions;

analysing problems and providing sustainable cost-effective solutions;

communicating effectively with all stakeholders;

working hard and respecting each other’s competence, experience, and value;

supporting each other to achieve common goals; and

valuing earned trust and unifying as a team to achieve success.

Business Principles

Shangoni will succeed when Shangonians ensure that all business activities and decisions are aligned with the business’ core focus.

We measure all contracts by asking the following:

Is it clean business?

Do we have the skills and competence to deliver on the project?

Is the project financially viable, considering our capacity and costs?

Does it build and maintain stakeholder relationships?

Does it resonate with our values?

Is it worth it? Income vs Effort vs Risk

To ensure that we can deliver on our clients’ needs and expectation, Shangonians are engaged and competent individuals. As part of ensuring Shangoni’s sustainability, resource needs are clearly defined and drive the recruitment, selection and procurement of individuals, business partners, and supporting tools for the business.

In his role as Managing Director and Co-founder of MD Foundation PTY (Ltd), Missio Dei South Africa NPO and Missio Dei Education NPO, he believes that we will see change if positive people start to work together. His vision is to help create and establish sustainable models that can help solve some of the socio-economic issues we face in South-Africa. As a Christian, he feels urged by the love of God to find practical solutions for the challenges at hand.

Missio Dei Education was started to address some of the educational challenges we face in South Africa. Many children are dropping out of school because they lack the much needed basics of foundation phase education. In July 2015, a remedial class centre was started where children could attend after school and receive education in Mathematics and English.  Currently there are 27 centres of this nature in Meqheleng in Ficksburg; Soshanguve, Mamelodi, Hammanskraal and Waltloo in Gauteng; Rust de Winter in Limpopo; Olifantshoek in the Northern Cape; and Vredendenburg, Veldrift and Langbaan in the Western Cape.

With Missio Dei being a shareholder in Shangoni, Shangoni’s commitment to social upliftment has been cemented in the DNA of the organisation.
