The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) published the draft second edition of the CIDB Standard for Uniformity in Construction for public comments, which, once finalised, will replace the first edition which was first published in 2004 and last amended in 2015, expanding the scope of the first edition to:
- embrace the delivery management function associated with project delivery within the construction industry and aligns it with the specificities of the construction industry;
- standardize processes and procedures for a procurement system as envisaged in the Public Procurement Act of 2024; and
- give effect to the call for government to be a sophisticated client and to make a step change in the planning, procurement and execution systems with capabilities to be operating at the highest global standard as articulated in the National Infrastructure Plan 2050 (NIP 2050) published in terms of the Infrastructure Development Act of 2014.
