The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, published the South Africa’s 2024 Grid Emission Factors Report (the Fourth GEFs Report), for information.
The Fourth GEFs Report shows that in 2024 the grid became more carbon intensive, indicating that the carbon intensity of electricity supplied to the grid increased during the year. This change reflects greater electricity generation from emissive sources. It includes summarised information and data on electricity production and the GHG emissions associated with the electricity that was produced for the 2024 calendar year.
