Notice Title: Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993 (“COIDA”): Regulations on Appointment of Assessors, Presiding Officers and Interpreters for the Compensation Fund Made under Section 91 of the Act

Commencing date: Comments to be submitted on or before 15 December 2025

 

The Minister of Employment and Labour, after consultation with the Compensation Board hereby under section 97 read with section 8 of the COIDA published the draft Regulations on Appointment of Assessors, Presiding Officers and Interpreters for the Compensation Fund under section 91 of the COIDA (“the draft Regulations”) for public comments.

 

The draft Regulations addresses the following:

  • Appointment of Assessors
  • Procedure of the Tribunal Hearings in terms of section 91
  • Nomination of Employer and Employee Assessors
  • Minimum qualifications for appointment
  • Disqualification of Assessors, Presiding officers and interpreters
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Remuneration
  • Training and assessment of performance
