DANGEROUS GOODS TRAINING BODIES

In terms of regulation 280 of the National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000, an operator shall ensure that the drivers of the vehicles of which he or she is the operator that has to obtain a professional driving permit undergo training at an approved training body. This notice includes a list of approved training bodies in this regard.

“So what” for my operation?
If your operation specialises in the transportation of dangerous goods, all drivers of the vehicles used for this purpose that has to obtain a professional driving permit must undergo training at an approved training body as included in this list. If your operation does not specialise in the transportation of dangerous goods but only receive dangerous goods transported by another organisation, it can be seen as part of your statutory duty of care to ensure that the drivers of the vehicles transporting dangerous goods have received the required training from an approved service provider.
