These draft Estuarine Management Plans have been published for comment. Where an environmental authorisation in terms of Chapter 5 of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 is required for coastal activities, the competent authority must take into account all relevant factors, including the estuarine management plans developed for the relevant areas.
Members of the public are invited to submit, within 30 (thirty) days after the publication of this notice in the Gazette, written representations on or objections to the draft plans. Copies of the draft EMPs can be downloaded from the website of the Department of Environmental Affairs: www.environment.gov.za or can be obtained electronically upon request by email to estuaries@environment.gov.za.
