NATIONAL ENERGY ACT, 34 OF 2008: DRAFT REGULATIONS ON THE MANDATORY PROVISION OF ENERGY DATA

The Minister of Electricity and Energy, in terms of section 19(1) of the NEA published the Draft Regulations on the Mandatory Provision of Energy Data (“draft regulations”) for public comment.
The objectives of the draft Regulations are to-
- enable the Department to collect, collate and publish quality energy data and information in an effective and efficient manner; and
- provide for the type, manner and form of energy data and information that must be provided by any data provider.
Data providers are classified according to different categories from Category A to Category H.
Once the Draft Regulations commences, it will repeal the current Regulations on the Mandatory Provision of Energy Data, GNR 142 of 24 February 2012.
