Potentially affected controls: Registration with local municipality, district municipality or provincial department; Regulation by authorities (municipal or provincial departments) i.e. site inspections and audits of required documentation; and Periodic emission sampling to establish if plant complies with the minimum emission standards for particulate matter and poly aromatic hydrocarbons
The purpose of these regulations is to regulate small scale char and charcoal plants. Specific emission limits are specified and existing plants as well as new plants should comply to these emission limits immediately. Existing plants, however, should comply with the emission limits specified for new plants by 1 April 2020. Detail on emission measurements as well as reporting requirements are specified in the regulations.
