New measuring, recording and reporting requirements are now imposed on water users who take water from a water resource for irrigation purposes. “Irrigation”, in this regard, means the watering of fields or beds to produce agricultural crops or grazing.
So what for my operation?
These regulations apply to all individuals/ operations producing agricultural crops or grazing. Water metering devices must be installed and maintained in line with these Regulations. Monthly records must be kept of water volumes taken from a water resource, which must be kept for a period of five years. These records must also be made available to the Department of Water and Sanitation on a monthly basis.
