Notice Title: World Heritage Convention 49 of 1999 (“WHCA”): Intention to declare Management Authorities for Robben Island Museum World Heritage Site and Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, the South African Component of Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site under the WHCA

Commencing date: Comments to be submitted by 17 October 2022

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (‘the Minister”) under section 7 read with section 8 of the WHCA intends to declare the following:

  • The Robben Island Museum Council as the Management Authority for the Robben Island Museum World Heritage Site; and
  • The KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Board as the Management Authority for the euKhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site, the South African component of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage site.
