The Minister of Employment and Labour published a notice of his intention in terms of section 43(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, to issue Draft Major Hazardous Installations Regulations (“draft Regulations”) for public comment, as set out in the Schedule to the notice.
The draft Regulations includes more comprehensive requirements than what is contained in the current Major Hazard Installation Regulation 2001 (published under GN R692 of 30 July 2001). For a copy of the notice click here.
Members of the public are invited to submit written comments on the draft regulations to the Director-General of the Department of Employment and Labour within 90 days from the date of publication of the notice. Comments must be submitted in the prescribed form attached as Annexure 1 of the notice.
