Commencing date: Comments to be submitted by 30 April 2023

The Minister of Health (“the Minister”) in terms of section 15 of the FCDA, intends to publish regulations relating to the labelling and advertising of foodstuffs.

The proposed regulations cover amongst other the following:

  • General provisions
  • Special provisions
  • General information on claims
  • Nutrition claims
  • Health claims
  • Exemptions, repeal and commencement.

These proposed Regulations will repeal the following Labelling and Advertising of Foodstuffs Regulations:

  • GNR 146 of 1 March 2010,
  • GNR 1091 of 19 November 2010,
  • GNR 45 of 19 January 2012, and
  • Regulation 6(2) of GNR 3128 of 20 December 1991
