GENERIC ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME RELEVANT TO AN ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION APPLICATION FOR SUBSTATION AND OVERHEAD ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE

The Minister of Environmental Affairs has published the generic environmental management programme (“EMPr”) relevant to an application for environmental authorisation for substation and overhead electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure as identified in terms of section 24(2)(a) of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 and which require environmental authorisation for the following activities:
- Activity 11 or 47 of Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (“EIA Regulations”) Listing Notice 1 of 2014, as amended; or
- Activity 9 of EIA Regulations Listing Notice 2 of 2014, as amended; and
- any other listed and specified activities necessary for the realisation of such infrastructure.
How to ensure compliance at my operation?
All environmental authorisation applications for substation and overhead electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure, when such facilities trigger the activities in the listing notices of the EIA Regulations, must use the generic EMPr set out in the Notice.
