The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment intention to adopt the Kruger National Park Management Plan 2018 – 2028 and the Generic Environmental Management Programme for the Kruger National Park as environmental management instruments in terms of section 24(5)(bA) of the NEMA, read with the Regulations Laying Down the Procedure to be Followed for the adoption of Spatial Tools or Environmental Management Instruments, 2019.
Based on the adoption the intention is to exclude the South African National Parks, in terms of section 24(2)(c) and 24(2)(e) of the NEMA, from the requirement to obtain an environmental authorisation, prior to commencement of activities identified in terms of section 24(2)(a) and (b) of the NEMA, which have been identified in the Schedule, when undertaken in line with the zoning scheme in the Kruger National Park Management Plan 2018 – 2028.
The exclusion will be subject to compliance with the Generic Environmental Management Programme for the Kruger National Park and the Code of Conduct for the Kruger National Park.
