Commencing date: 4 February 2025
The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment published in terms of section 25(3) of the NEMA, the Regulations to Domesticate the Requirements of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade. These Regulations will commence on 4 February 2025 (i.e. 120 days from the date of publication for implementation in the Government Gazette).
Once it commences, the Regulations to Domesticate the Requirements of the Rotterdam Convention, as published under GNR 413 on 12 May 2021, the Regulations to Domesticate the Requirements of the Rotterdam Convention, as published under GNR 3072 on 21 February 2023, and the Extension Notice published under GNR 4204 on 14 December 2023 will be repealed.
