NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: AIR QUALITY ACT 39 OF 2004: DRAFT 8TH NATIONAL INVENTORY REPORT FOR THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA FOR PUBLIC COMMENT
Notice Title: National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act 39 of 2004 (“NEMAQA”): Draft 8th National Inventory Report for the Republic of South Africa for public comment
Government Notice: GN 2321 in GG 47133 on 29 July 2022
Commencing date: Comments to be submitted by 29 August 2022
The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (“the Minister”) published the draft 8th National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report for public comment.
The National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report will eventually form part of the Fifth Biennial Update Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (“UNFCCC”). South Africa is required by the UNFCCC to provide in its national inventory, on gas-by-gas basis, and its units’ mass, estimates of anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide (“CO2”), methane (“CH4”), and nitrous oxide (“N20”), by sources and removals by sinks. An accurate, complete and updated greenhouse gas emissions inventory is a good foundation for effective mitigation responses.
Members of the public are invited to submit written comments and inputs on or before 29 August 2022. For a copy of the Government Gazette Notice click here.
