The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, in terms of section 69(1 )(a), (b), (g), (h), (m), (q), (r), (s), (dd), and (ee), of the NEMWA, amended the Waste Classification and Management Regulations, 2013, published under GNR 634, on 23 August 2013.
The amendments relate to the following:
- Definitions,
- The purpose of the Regulations
- Waste classification
- Safety data sheets
- General section
- Waste treatment
- Waste disposal to landfill
- Deletion of Chapter 4 that relates to waste management activities that do not require a waste management licence
- Offenses and penalties
- Annexure 1: Wastes that do not require classification or assessment
