Notice Title: National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (“NEMA”): Proposed amendments to the Regulations to Domesticate the Requirements of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade

Commencing date: Comments to be submitted on or before 23 November 2023

 

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, intends to repeal and replace the previously published Regulations to Domesticate the Requirements of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, in terms of section 25(3), read with sections 44(1) and 47(1) of the NEMA. The proposed amendments have been published for public comments.

Upon commencement of the new Regulations, the Regulations to Domesticate the Requirements of the Rotterdam Convention, as published under GNR 413 of 12 May 2021, will be repealed.
