The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (“the Minister”) published the Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations, 2020 and Notices regarding the establishment and implementation of extended producer responsibility (“EPR”) schemes for the electrical and electronic equipment sector, the lighting sector and the paper, packaging and some single-use products on 5 November 2020 under GNR 1184 in terms of NEMWA.
Regulation 8 of the EPR Regulations, 2020, as amended, requires Producer Responsibility Organisations and Producers that implement their own EPR schemes to submit their interim performance reports on or before 31 July 2022.
The online system experience technical challenges and delays which have since been resolved. The online report system went live on Wednesday, 20 July 2022. The reporting period in terms of regulation 8 of the EPR Regulations, 2020 is hereby extended until 31 August 2022.
