The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (“the Minister”), in terms of section 7(1)(c), read together with sections 72 and 73 of the NEMWA intends to amend the National Norms and Standards for Disposal of Waste to Landfill, GNR 636 of 23 August 2013 and published the proposed amendments for public comment.
The proposed amendments relate to amongst other the following:
- Inclusion of the definition of Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (“GHS”)
- Landfill classification and containment barrier design
- Waste disposal restrictions
