OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT, 1993: CORRECTION OF PUBLICATION ON MAJOR HAZARD INSTALLATION REGULATIONS

The Minister of Employment and Labour issued a correction statement to correct an error made in the GN in which the new Major Hazard Installations, 2022 were gazetted on 31 January 2023.
The correction related to page 4 of that notice that stated “MAJOR HAZARD INSTALLATION REGULATIONS 20XX”. The correct statement should read as follows: “MAJOR HAZARD INSTALLATION REGULATIONS, 2022”.
Furthermore, the Department of Employment and Labour seeks to advise that the Major Hazard Installation Regulations, 2022, came into force on 31 January 2023.

How to ensure compliance at my operations?
With the commencement of the new Major Hazard Installations, 2022, on 31 January 2023, the Major Hazard Installation Regulations, GNR 692 of 30 July 2001 have been repealed. Employers with a major hazard installation on their premises must take the necessary actions to ensure compliance with the new Major Hazard Installations, 2022.
