WATER ACT 54 OF 1956: REGULATIONS IN TERMS OF SECTION 26 READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH SECTION 12A OF THE ACT, FOR THE ERECTION, ENLARGEMENT, OPERATION AND REGISTRATION OF WATER CARE WORKS – REPEAL; AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO COMPULSORY NATIONAL STANDARDS FOR PROCESS CONTROLLER AND WATER SERVICES WORKS

The Minister of Water and Sanitation repealed the Regulations for the erection, enlargement, operation and registration of water care works in terms of section 26 read in conjunction with section 12A of the WA, GNR 2834 of 27 December 1985, in its entirety. The repeal came into effect on the 30th of June 2023.
In addition, the Minister of Water and Sanitation published Regulations relating to Compulsory National Standards for Process Controller and Water Services Works under section 9(1) of the Water Services Act, 108 of 1997 (the new Regulations).
The new Regulations provide for amongst other the following:
- Standard for classification of water services works
- Standard for the registration of process controller
- Standard for training of process controller
- Standard for process controller employed prior to the commencement of the Regulations
- Compliance and enforcement of the Regulations.
