AMENDMENT OF THE LISTED ACTIVITIES AND ASSOCIATED MINIMUM EMISSION STANDARDS

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment published amendments to the Listed Activities and Associated Minimum Emission Standards identified in terms of section 21 of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act 39 of 2004 (published in GN 893 in GG 37054 of 22 November 2013)(“Listed Activities”) as contained in the Schedule to the Government Notice. Category 1: Combustion Installations of the Listed Activities has been amended by adding the following item to subparagraph (a) of paragraph (1) Subcategory 1.1: Solid Fuel Combustion Installations:
“(iv) Existing plants shall comply with a new plant emission limit of 1000 mg/Nm3 for sulphur dioxide (SO2)”.
