DISASTER MANAGEMENT ACT, 57 of 2002: AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS ISSUED IN TERMS OF SECTION 27(2)

The Minister of Cooperate Governance and Traditional Affairs (“the Minister”) published an amendment to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the DMA published under GNR 480 of 29 April 2020, as amended (“the Regulations”).
The amendments relate to, amongst others, the following:
- Refusal of treatment and isolation
- Isolation of persons
- Shelters and sites identified by the State during national state of disaster;
- Opening and closure of schools, early childhood development centres and institutions of higher education, specifically relating to social distancing measures in the basic education sector. This amendment will however only commence on the 7th of February 2022.
