NATIONAL WATER ACT 36 OF 1998: REVIEW OF THE NATIONAL WATER RESOURCES STRATEGY
Notice Title: National Water Act 36 of 1998 (“NWA”): Review of the National Water Resources Strategy
Government Notice: GN 2327 in GG 47133 on 29 July 2022
Commencing date: Comments to be submitted by 27 October 2022
The Minister of Water and Sanitation (“the Minister”) published the draft National Water Resources Strategy (“NWRS”) for public comment.
The NWRS provides the framework for the protection, use, development, conservation, management, and control of water resources of South Africa. It also provides the framework within which water will be managed at regional or catchment level, in defined water management areas. It is the primary mechanism and legal instrument of operationalizing or implementing the NWA.
The National Water Resources Strategy has been established in a phased and progressive manner in separate components over time.
Members of the public are invited to submit written comments and inputs on or before 27 October 2022. For a copy of the Government Gazette Notice click here.
