The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services (“the Minister”), under section 92 of the PAIA made the regulations relating to the Promotion of Access to Information, 2021 (“the Regulations”).

The Regulations repealed the previous regulations regarding the promotion of access to information that was published under GNR 187 of 15 February 2002, including subsequent amendments thereto.

The Regulations ensures the alignment of the regulations regarding the promotion of access to information with the recent amendments to the PAIA relating to the protection of personal information.

How to ensure compliance at my operations?

Employers must ensure that their current practices relating to access to information is aligned with the new Regulations.  Employers should also take note of these Regulations should they wish to request access to information from the Information Regulator.
